How is Rope Hounds Sustainable?
Sustainable Dog Gear for Earth Day (and Every Day) | Rope Hounds
How Rope Hounds Turns Climbing Rope into Eco-Friendly Dog Gear
At Rope Hounds, we believe that adventure and sustainability should go hand-in-paw. This Earth Day, we’re highlighting how we reduce waste, support local rescue dogs, and help you feel good about the gear you use every day.
Rope Hounds is Built on Sustainability
Did you know we started out Upcycling ALL of our rope? We wanted to find a new purpose for quality, used climbing rope, so we began upcycling all that we could find. We eventually found that there was not enough rope for us to use, so we began working with companies like Mammut and Sterling that have sustainability programs or use residual yarn to make their rope.
By doing this, Rope Hounds helps:
-
Keep waste out of landfills
-
Reduce the demand for new materials
-
Create one-of-a-kind patterns you won’t find anywhere else
Every Rope Hounds leash and collar is made with adventure-grade rope — the same material trusted by climbers.
Meet Our [P]upcycle Program ♻️
Sustainability doesn’t stop after you buy your gear — it keeps going.
Through our [P]upcycle Program, we take back used Rope Hounds leashes and collars from customers. We repair them (if needed), clean them up, and donate them to local animal shelters and rescue organizations.
This helps dogs in need get durable gear for walks, hikes, and foster adventures while they wait for their forever homes.
And as a thank-you?
We send every customer who participates a 25% off coupon toward their next purchase at Rope Hounds.
Win-win-win.
